Kitchens & Organization

Kitchens They are a place of joy, family memories,  some would say its the heart of the home. At some point we started hating the kitchen.

I remember many nights watching my mom cook and clean up after. She hated when my father cooked. He was a messy cook and didnt do the clean up. He’d be all over the place with 4-5 bowls, a different spoon to stir everytime, and spices every where.  She loved his food though,  so she put up with “hurricane dad” cooking.

I guess my love/hate relationship started with my mom. She enjoyed cooking, hated cleaning after. She was always cleaning it too. It didnt matter who cooked. I remember once  I was old enough they put me in charge of doing the dishes. I hated it! I still do. I will do everything in my power not to handwash dishes.  Dishwashers are one of the best things to be invented.

I’m sure some of you might have said the following at some point, I’m to tired to cook, The kitchen is a mess and I dont want to clean up just to make a mess again, Can we just pick up something?

If you’ve never said anything like that, then you are amazing! I know for a fact I say at least one of those weekly. Thankfully the wonderful men/boys in my life help with cleaning up after I cook. I try not to make a mess like my father did. I learned my messy cooking habits from him. He’d say that he was cooking and too busy to stop and clean, he didnt want to burn anything. I admit I say the same things 🙂

So it’s like a rule here that whoever cooks doesn’t clean up after. I should make a “kitchen rules” chart that has that on it.

I always wanted a big kitchen with an island w/bar. And boy did I get it. But the pantry is small compaired to the kitchen itself.

Yes its a mess.

We are not normally this messy. The kids left everything from breakfast sitting out. Including the empty milk jug  -sigh-

But have no fear Mom is here. She’ll clean your mess. I bet thats what my kids think. I’m just here to be a maid.

Anyway, this weekend is all about cleaning and organizing, the kitchen, other rooms are going to be organized later.

I bought some things off amazon I’ll go into more detail later. But I got a door organizer for the pantry and some silicone baking items. For now I guess I should get to cleaning that kitchen before lunch.
